I am pleasantly surprised by the first 10 hours of Visions of Mana. It’s a pop song with barely-disguised somber lyrics. The combat is snappy and smooth, the art direction is really strong, and the English voice cast are good! It also has really swift exploration of each area, with cute little platforming things to pick up little treasure, none of which are mandatory.
I don’t enjoy the Tales games, or other mutations of rpg into light action brawlers. But this one’s chill and fun!
