Today's historic #photo of the day: Exactly 39 years ago today, streamlined GM diesel locos 42103 and 42106 together with Alco hood unit 4522 sit in the sidings at Canberra, ACT, July 27 1985.
The 421 class were built in 1965/66 for the NSW #railways by GM's Australian licensee: Clyde Engineering of Granville. Unlike most other Australian GM streamliners, the ten 421 class locos are actually double-ended and feature a fully functioning driving cab at the no 2 end.
Three diesel locomotives, all in tuscan and yellow livery, sit in a railway yard with a 1960s style passenger railway station in the background.
