In 2000-2001, an ancient Egyptian well was excavated by the Qantir-Piramesse project. It dates back to the reign of #Ramesses II (1279-1213 BCE).
The well is one of the earliest in #Egypt to be entirely constructed from stone. Excavations revealed several outstanding features, such as two layers of pottery at the bottom of the well to filter the water.
The visualisations have been used to illustrate the construction of the well, its features and the stratigraphy.
