The small network, comprising four routes radiating from the centre of the city at Charing Cross, was the city's primary form of public transport until trams were replaced by diesel buses in 1972. However, the entire fleet of trams and about a quarter of the network of track was retained as a tourist tramway and in late 1972, the Bendigo Trust commenced operation of regular tourist trams along city streets connecting tourist attractions, and it is one of those trips we see here.
