Today's historic #photo of the day: Exactly 35 years ago today, The 'Flying Scotsman', on its Australian tour, runs express through Sunshine, Vic, July 22 1989.
4472, Flying Scotsman, is a British steam #locomotive that some claim is the most famous steam loco in the world. Commissioned by the Great Northern Railway Company, it was delivered to the London & North Eastern Railway in 1923 after the GNR was absorbed into the LNER in the post WW1 railway company 'Grouping' of that year.
From a pedestrian footbridge, looking down over eight parallel railway tracks we see the Flying Scotsman steam locomotive in LNER green livery heading towards us hauling a train of tuscan liveried passenger carriages.
