Today's historic #photo of the day: Alco diesel locos 4405 and 44211 catch the first rays of morning sunlight as they sit coupled in the #railway yard at Albury, NSW, June 11 1983.
Both locos were powered by 12 cylinder 4 stroke Alco engines, but whilst the 44 class, dating from the late 1950s, had an 1800hp model 251B engine, the 1971-built 442 class had a newer 2000hp 251C engine. Both locos were painted in Indian red livery. Note the oval shaped white PTC logo below the cab window on 4405.
Looking across a railway yard, two carbody style diesel locomotives in Indian red livery with yellow lining sit coupled with the warm coloured morning sunlight illuminating this side. The left loco has a streamlined cab facing left, whilst the right loco has flat cabs at both ends. In the shade in the lower foreground is a turntable, and to the right, a footbridge crosses the yard. A tree stands behind the locos and a hill and the buildings of the city fill the background beneath a light blue, partly clouded early morning sky.
