When #VideoGames graphics were not very detailed, developers used text to convey information. Point-&-click adventures, survival horrors, and a few other genres gave you a description of an item you were looking at.
I think this is actually a very good example of how to approach #AltText for images for #accessibility. Because they knew they had a goal to achieve (to convey the mood of the place; to give the player information they needed; to make a joke; etc.) and not to describe *everything*.
