The new model Workmate is fine. It's convenient for a lot of jobs, but the quality is nothing like that of the older models. I'm 6' 3" and the extra height of the old beast is just enough for me to avoid the 'slight stoop' lower back ache I get from using standard height workbenches.
I think I can carry out some upgrades to the new one to increase its usability and utility. First job: those thin bamboo jaws have to go!
