I had pan-fried Asian dumplings for lunch today, I used olive oil for frying, after the bottoms were browned, I added a quarter cup of soy sauce and chicken stock. Steaming them for 7 mins, then removed most of the excess liquid. Then I fried them another 2 minutes before removing them from the pan. I then added fresh broccoli florets along with a quarter cup of water, steaming them till they were ready to eat. They picked up some added flavor from my cooking the dumplings in the same pan. Yum!
