Being a responsible gun owner means you don’t allow kids unsupervised access to firearms. It’s obvious and it should carry the weight of criminal liability.
Second amendment absolutists are going to say this is a ‘slippery slope’ but nothing in the above says your kids can’t hunt, learn competition shooting or just plink for the fun of it. It doesn’t even (where legal) prevent your kid from ‘owning’ firearms. It just means parents are responsible for supervision with consequences for failure.
