Today's historic of the day: A streetside view of the elegant station at Young, NSW, November 2 1985.

Young is a regional town in the South West Slopes region of New South Wales. The railway station is on the cross country line that connects the main West line at Blayney with the main South line at Demondrille. Young station is about 417km by rail from Sydney via Demondrille and the main South line or 440km by via Blayney and the main West.

The front side of a brick and stone railway station building with corrugated iron peaked roof. The building is of predominantly red brick construction with cream stone detailing on corners and detailing. Windows are arched with ornate neo gothic styling. At each end there is a transverse section with peaked roof and gable. Connecting the two is a section that runs parallel to the platform, fronted with a verandah supported by metal posts with iron lacework. A smaller central gable sits above a central entrance. At the far end is another, perhaps detached room with another transverse peaked roof section.
