Something reminded me of godsvg.com and now I spend some time in it and I can basically read/write <path>'s by hand (minus Béziers, those are just too much hassle).

Still prefer simpler shapes, they are easier to deal with and in combination with clips and masks you can do 90% of what you (or at least *I*) want. That’s the beauty of SVGs for me, a text file describing the shapes you smash together.

Screenshot of the GodSVG editor.

On the right is a canvas with pixel greed on it. The word “ANDREW” is written in a continuous line (path) with some parts missing (A missing right diagonal line, N missing left vertical line, D and R missing vertical lines, E is just three horizontal lines on top of each other, with middle being the shortest, W is a diagonal line and V), with some parts going outside the canvas and therefore invisible (it starts at N, goes outside and then to A, then back outside and back to D, etc.).

On the left is a text box with very clean and optimized SVG code. Below that, some settings and a long list of all the nodes of the path, each showing what it is (horizontal line, vertical line, arc, etc.) and some numbers describing its length, coordinates, curvature, etc.
