When MGS2 has its AI constructs talk about how they want to shape the internet to provide context it is not saying AI will "save us" from the mess the internet has become, as some critics have recently claimed.
It is very directly positioning the attitude of the AI constructs as the wrong approach. They are the villains of the game, and the final acts of the protagonists is to shut down their plan to control information.
