As I hear people recite the Creed, I sometimes hear them put an inflection in a different place than the punctuation dictates. But this isn't just a gripe about recitation technique. It makes a huge difference in the meaning of the text
"Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven..."
Is VERY different than:
"Through him all things were made for us and for our salvation. He came down from heaven..."
Which is how some say it, and how some act.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. [PERIOD GOES HERE] For us and for our salvation [NOT HERE] he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man.
