Today in 1816, #MaryShelley & her husband arrived in Bath. Mary’s journal states: “Arrive at Bath about two – dine and spend the evening in looking for lodgings”.
Mary didn’t spend that much time in Somerset, but her stay in Bath was very significant. Staying until early 1817, she wrote much of Frankenstein whilst living there, which is considered the first-ever science fiction novel. Oh, and Mary was only 19 years old at the time
