Discovery of pararealgar and semi-amorphous pararealgar in Rembrandt's The Night Watch
These findings confirm that identifying arsenic sulfides pigments in cultural heritage objects should be done by molecule specific techniques such as Raman spectroscopy and/or XRD to identify the exact species. It highlights that the collection of arsenic sulfide pigments used by artists in the seventeenth century was much larger than commonly perceived.
