Tram no 30 was built in 1918 by Adelaide coachbuilding firm Duncan & Fraser for the city-Hawthorn Tramways Trust, and entered service in 1920 as their no 33. When the HTT, was taken over my the Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Trust, No 30 was classified M class and numbered 183. She ran in Melbourne until 1935 when she was sold to the SEC, who had recently inherited Victoria's three provincial tramways, and was shipped to Ballarat where she became that city's no 30.
