so I've been using VS Code (and Codium) for quite a while, but I like to look at alternatives. mostly because Electron
the Zed code editor started doing Linux builds not too long ago and there's now an unofficial Flatpak
it's really hard to compete with the sheer number of extensions available for Code, but Zed is written in Rust and doesn't use Electron...and it feels *very* snappy to use
i'm a bit iffy on the AI integrations, but i'm not forced to use them, so...it's fine. i guess?
