Short Range Forecast Discussion Wed Jul 10 2024 Post-Tropical Cyclone Beryl to bring Severe Thunderstorms, heavy rain, flooding to parts of the Midwest, E Great Lakes, & Northeast Dangerous heat, record high temperatures to continue for much of the West thru the end of the work week... Major & Extreme HeatRisk over parts of East Coast today... Beryl will continue NE through Ohio and into Ontario, rainfall increase over New England. Thunderstorms may be severe in areas of interior Northeast, some tornado potential. for these areas too.. Flash flooding threat will be greater over parts of NE NY into northern VT/NH, where Excessive Rainfall watch is in effect. Elsewhere, showers and some thunderstorms are possible over parts of NM, along the Gulf Coast, and into the Mid-Atlantic. A Slight Risk of Excessive Rainfall is in effect over portions of NM where heavy rainfall .. burn scars could trigger Flash Flooding. In the West, the intense heat will continue for at least a few more days, Excessive heat warnings or heat advisories are in effect for much of the area outside high mountains Temps will be cooler than avg along Beryl path bc of overcast skies and rain. Ahead of its path, more East Coast hot temperatures well into 90s - Mid-Atlantic south to the Carolinas. Heat index values over 100F for many of areas. Many record high minimum temperatures will only dip into the mid/upper 70s at night Heat advisories are in effect for much of the I-95 corridor, Philadelphia area
