More of the glassy brown chalcedony from Fort Johnson & Alibates flint from TX. The curators at Fort Johnson tell me they're calling the brown opaline material "Eagle Hill" (aka Fleming Opal). The Miocene chert/chalcedony occurs in the Fleming Formation in the Eagle Hill area. Since silicified wood is known from the formation, it's theorized that the Eagle Hill material consists of the locale-specific silicification of logs where the original woody structure cannot be discerned. #Archaeology
