Today's historic #photo of the day: Exactly 39 years ago today, power car HPF955 trails a 7-car DEB set on the northbound Canberra Monaro Express as it departs Michelago, NSW, October 7 1985.
Michelago is 370km from Sydney on the Goulburn to Bombala #railway. In 1985, it was served by a Mon-Sat day-return train from Sydney, the Canberra Monaro Express to and from Cooma, as well as the four times weekly Cooma Mail that ran overnight from Sydney to Cooma, then returned the following morning.
A DEB set train departs a rural passenger station. The train is a 7-car streamlined diesel multiple unit with most cars painted in Candy livery but the third car from this end is in Indian Red livery. The single platform station is at left. There is just one track to the right of the train.
