I read Hillbilly Elegy when it came out. My eyebrows got sore raising them from all the wrong conclusions, blaming the poor community he hails from for its problems rather than it being ill-equipped to deal with the conditions lumped on it by capitalism. I thought he was a rube who didn't get it despite (or maybe thanks to) his Ivy League education.
Now I see he's just a self-serving class traitor who rendered the memory of his Mawmaw and used her grease to slick his political ambitions.
