The 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution (2A) is a concession to 18th century anti-federalists who were concerned about the formation of a federal standing army. It accomplished this: each state has it's own militia, the National Guard.
But because 2A is so poorly written, it's easily misinterpreted to block reasonable gun control laws. It effectively enshrines the right for disturbed individuals to lash out and kill as many people as they can.
Enough. The 2A needs to be revised or repealed.
