Today's historic #photo of the day: Exactly 38 years ago today, a pair of NSW State Rail Authority 85 class electric locomotives haul a goods #train on the Sydney suburban goods line at Enfield South, July 14 1986.
The 10-strong 85 class, built in 1979 and 1980, were the first new electric locos introduced in NSW since the 46 class in the 1950s. When introduced, the 85 class were the most powerful locomotives in Australia.
A view looking down from an embankment at the side of a railway line overlooking a pair of predominantly Indian Red liveried boxcab electric locomotives. The lower half of the loco sides are in the shadow of the embankment. In the background another couple of tracks are visible and another tall embankment is in the distance with a slab-sided industrial building on the top.
