2/2 Quantitative estimates on public vs. private (capitalist) provisioning lead to the following conclusion: capitalism is OK for producing trinkets, as long as they don't pollute too much, For example, selfie sticks.
But for producing anything mission critical (housing, education, health case, transit), it is too inefficient. It requires vastly more energy and materials than public provisioning, and that's before we look at reproducing inequalities, colonial extraction etc.
