I love the ‘secret’ wooden benches that the council has hidden away in clearings in the marsh grass and undergrowth along the river path. They’re at the bottom of slopes, barely visible from the busy footpath and cycleway or surrounding apartment blocks. They face you away from everything but nature. Smack bang mid-city: serene solitude.
