My Thursday’s read is also my . A thoughtful and thought-provoking and provocative book. One of those books that I can’t nibble at, reading a few pages here and there, dipping in and out as time permits. I need to read it in longer sittings. I started it on a too-short train trip yesterday. Am hoping to finish it now. So if you see me tooting in here after this, please tell me and my attention span to log off and go away and get back to Rachel.

My Danish-language paperback library edition of Rachel Cusk's Aftermath. 'Efterskælv.' Sans serif slim black typeface. Broad off-white border. Above: title Efterskælv. Below: author name. Between them: big bland navy-blue image. I think it's the ocean with a thick white fault-line of white foam snaking through it. There's a pink and yellow woven bookmark sticking out more than halfway through the 200 pages. The book is lying on a wool blanket, because you need a blanket and a hot water bottle for reading on the couch in Denmark in the middle of Summer.
