Looking from a height across the harbour to the pier where cruise ships dock. Because it's Summer in Denmark, the sea and sky are black and rain-soaked. Opposite us, towering above local trawlers anchored below, a warehouse with a 1000 m² mural on the gable wall. It is one of 17 commissioned by the council to represent the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. It is a lovely earth-toned image of young people of different ethnicities holding poultry and birds. It is diminished by the gigantic Mein Schiff 1 cruise ship anchored behind it. With 16 decks, it towers above everything. It is 316 metres long with 4000 crew and passengers. On the promenade below us: three young boys in helmets and rain gear, upright on escooters, going to the right. Passing them, going to the left, a man in raingear pushing a pram. Everyone is in single file and looking straight ahead. Even though they are moving, the scene looks very static and silent, as if they are in a play or have lined up in front of the cruise ship to silently demonstrate sustainable ways of transport.
