What is it about autumn light that makes the heart ache a little? A fullness somehow? Swaledale one of my favourite dales - something sheltered - another time and place entirely.
A road leads away into a wide shallow valley, edged on one side by an old stone wall with wooden fences every couple of yards, and on the other by grass falling into rough fields. In the distance, a small cluster of trees and farm buildings. The sky is an autumnal blue - fresh and clear. Patches of sunshine brighter like spotlights.
