Britain’s electricity demand always plummets in the wee small hours. Falling to 20MW or less is not uncommon. At 3.30am renewables we’re meeting 87.5% of that (almost certainly constrained by controllers) but, because gas, nuclear and the burning of imported wood pellets must go on, we were stuffing 6.1GW into exports and hydro storage. 6.1 GW would have kept another 1 million EVs charging at 6.6kW. And remember: most EV drivers only charge once a week or less so that supports lots of EVs really
