It’s been a long and silly day, but my book is good and my bookmark has a tassel, so all’s well that ends well.

My paperback edition of Here Again Now by Okechukwu Nzelu. A glossy, striking cover with a distinctive mustard-yellow and purple background and a close-up portrait of a young man's face - the protagonist, a Nigerian-English man. There are praise quotes from Derek Owusu; Brit Bennett; and The Guardian. The book is lying on a wool throw-blanket in deep blue shades. My bookmark is sticking out about 30 pages in - it has a blue silk seventies-curtain-style tassel that I love in a not even slightly ironic way.
