I canât help thinking that government negotiators could have secured a smaller pay settlement for Junior Doctors if they had just promised to do away with the absurd title âJunior Doctorâ. I mean, an F1 fresh from medical school probably doesnât mind being called âjuniorâ but if youâve been refining your expertise for years on end and simply havenât yet made it to âconsultantâ then it probably grates. Itâs demeaning, deskilling and certainly doesnât help patients.
