I would suggest that at the proximal stimuli level, or the radiometric energy that lands at our biological cells in our retina, we need to immediately let go of this thinking. Why?
Because the proximal energy that hits the photosensitive cells *is not measured* as scalar quantities. There’s no “no energy” signal, nor is there a “Oh that’s 1000 nits!”
