For laughs, I tried to optimize the X axis acceleration using back and forth strokes and got up to 7000mm/s^2 before I was afraid the machine would shake the table so much it would walk.
Trying to plot an actual drawing with that acceleration was futile. The machine immediately dropped steps because the resonances became unpredictable.
Dropped steps means the pen doesn't move as far as it should, resulting in alignment gaps in your plot.
