There's a "preintegrated skin" shader, but I don't know how that works either. Clearly I haven't pre-integrated shit, and I can't tell the difference between it and subsurface.
Presumably it uses specific channels to do things, or uses some kind of setting hiding somewhere to set something that my eye can't discern any differences.
I could look it up, but at the end of the day, it still injects a lot of fake-looking light.
