Had a delightful interaction at the grocery store. Unloaded my basket onto the conveyor, and the gentleman behind me lit up.
“Oooh, looks like the makings of a bean casserole!”
“Yes! Calico beans!” I grinned.
“We call ours 3-Bean Casserole, but” he looked around briefly “sometimes I add more than three kinds of beans…”
I looked at my five bean types lined up and nodded.
He asked if we use molasses - I pondered, and said that sounded good, but we use brown sugar and cider vinegar.
