My 2016 photo that was used for A New Heading and notes on how it was created in this post.

My photo of the mannequin heads used for the final image on space exploration called A New Heading. A sports equipment store was going out of business back in 2016, I noticed this line of mannequin heads on the top shelf on a display rack. I took a photo because I knew I could use it sometime later to create a photo-manip piece. The digital backdrop you will notice is the same one I used for A Star to Steer By (first time I used my digital backdrop piece in 2014) , A Little Night Drivin’, Escape Velocity and Cosmic Jellyfish. I figure after all the work of punching holes in a backdrop to allow light to shine through, layering another photo of a cloudy day utilizing the camera’s white balance to adjust to blue tones, then having to painstakingly clean up the holes to make them ‘rounder’ and layers, layers, layers in Paintshop to get the right color I can darn well use this again and again in other works. The nebula is a cloud from my photo that used the warped tool several times over to get that spiral look. The trail is a glow from the picture tube tool in Paintshop. The rocket ship - that too is my photo of my husband’s desktop pen manipulated and sized to fit into the final work.
