Source of the day: 774 years ago today, in Bergen, King Håkon Håkonsson of Bergen signed (well, affixed his seal to) this treaty with the city of Lübeck (later the leading city of the Hanseatic League). It is one of the first documents concerning links between Norway and the Hansa merchants. In it, the two sides guarantee each other's merchants the freedom to come and trade in peace.
Beautiful, legible handwriting - before Gothic came along and ruined everything.
