Starmer saying UK will not rejoin EU "in my lifetime" is silly IMHO. By all means say "for the time being". But the country and the world is not stuck in amber in 2016.
A majority of Brits would favour rejoining at some level (CU/SM). Situation on other side of the Atlantic may mean the UK may not have many options & friends and we need to stick with our close neighbours. You are going to need to grow the economy somehow.
So ffs don't box yourself in by saying never.
