My mother got her ears pierced only in her 40s. I went with her to get it done, as her comforting companion animal. Which is about as much interest as she had in my life, but that's a different story.
So then she went from clip-ons to ticklers and I think she also wore hoops. She'd probably have worn these, if she had ever started viewing me as a person.
She passed away at 52, though. Smoked herself to death a decade later than she had planned to. Really a way of saying too addicted to quit.
