Austerity endangers a nation:
Unless outstanding loans continue to expand or the money supply is expanded, the economy faces monetary contraction, leading to recession or much worse, such as a debt deflation spiral. What is more banks only extend credit if they know they will be paid back plus interest! Therefore austerity exposes a nation to economic crisis.
