out of curiosity, I used some... online methods... to obtain the wallpapers from the MKBHD Panels app, and it appears that they can be sorted into a few categories:
- generic Unsplash pics with SUPER heavy grain filter applied
- CGI masturbation
- few very mid ones
many are pretty, but way too busy for a wallpaper, as you wouldn't be able to see the icons. many others are not only poorly suited for a wallpaper, but just aren't good pictures in general.
like, imagine paying $50/yr for this:
trying my best to convey what it is, but I'm not sure if I can do it justice. I imagine this initially started as a photo of some surface covered in many small, colourful square tiles, but then someone cranked the contrast filter, to the point where the shadows turned into pitch black splotches covering about a third of the picture, and the reflection of the light became a pure white splotch covering almost to thirds of it. the very narrow bands between the splotches consist of the tiles in very vivid colours and quite out of focus. it looks like someone was trying to show what having a migraine looks like, or maybe induce migraine in the viewer. it's difficult to imagine anyone voluntarily putting it as a background picture on any of their devices.
