I've had to set up a docking station for a colleague - it uses a DVI to VGA adapter to get to one monitor, and a USB to HDMI adapter for the other one. It is so ugly, but it works!
(I had to connect the PC directly via HDMI at first, to disable one of the three screens it thought were there with this setup, then reconnect to just the adapter monstrosity).
