A "memento mori" showing a skull on a wheel, flanked by two thin rods standing on sharp tips, decorated with colored cloth, topped by a straight edge with a plumb bob. The plumb bob rests on the top of the skull, and gives the impression of holding the skull in place in the very unstable configuration. The background is light blue, and the floor the wheel and staves rest on is sand colored. the image is made in the opus verniculatum characterized by highly detailed and colorful mosaics made up of tiny pieces of colored material.
