The village of Wiuwert renovated its church in 1765. The workers found a 16th c. crypt with 11 bodies - all intact.

Today there are 4 bodies left. 2 bodies died of illness, & 2 died naturally.

Scientists do not know how they mummified exactly.

But the process still works, as dead birds were hung unto the crypt ceiling in the 1930s & they too, have been .
