2.5 years ago I self exiled from San Francisco and northern California, my home for 30 ish years, after a brutal divorce, and no longer being able to afford crazy cost of living, rents, etc, and relocated to a city of 300k people in the Rust Belt Midwest where the cost of living is 50-75% less expensive HOWEVER there's a reason it's cheap. It's horrible. Horrible weather (always 900 degrees 90% humidity sweltering or 900 degrees below zero freezing.i haaaaaate it
