Ok, so the source is pretty suspect, but is 2.9Wh per request true or not?
Well, I can't actually answer that 100% for sure because...OpenAI doesn't actually share these figures. If they did, I'm sure NPR would be citing OpenAI's official figures and not some random Goldman Sachs report.
Also, as we look at some real figures, it's not a totally crazy number, but it would also be incredibly wasteful by today's standards, especially for the model speculated on...
