Context for this: I am back at learning Typescript because, well, the new guy uses it a lot and it'd be good to be able to fix issues when he is out. My impressions thus far are pretty neutral, but the thought that keeps coming back to me is this: so...Javascript was awful, so you built a language AROUND the Awful that solves for the Awful while doing some cool things. Seems like you're taking the long way around for things that other languages already do well.
