This article suggests having an "official Linux distro" to increase the adoption of Linux on the desktop. I think it is a very bad idea: the reason I hate Ubuntu is that it is popular enough for a lot of software to only support Ubuntu. Same for systemd.
I find it interesting that the author thinks that "helping the cause" means "getting more adoption by people who can't be bothered to understand the fundamentals". At least this is not my cause.
