This wasn't even a technical legal point based on current law, but an actual moral argument they stood behind even after a asked the above question.

Do people actually believe that is also morally binding and not just a (bad) legal interpretation? Because corporations are people too, if we prevent them from making these gadgets we will at the same time prevent people from reading books?

To me this is so wild, I can't really wrap my head around it.
